Dell, the computer giant, has revealed plans for its first multi-touch mid-range Studio 17 laptop this week and has confirmed that it will be launched in the UK before the end of the year.
The new laptop has a 17-inch screen with an LED-backlit display that runs at 1440×900 pixels. The laptop will be running on the new Windows 7 operating system which will be able to support the new multi-touch technologies built in to the device.
Some of the touch screen features will include touching the start menu on the screen to launch programs, or pinching the image on the screen to zoom in or out. The new touch-screen technologies have been designed to help the user navigate around the system and increase the user-friendliness of the device.
The new laptop is rumoured to be priced at around £550. The average specifications of the new laptop will be a 2.1GHz Intel Pentium T4300 CPU, 3GB of speedy DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a standard DVD-RW drive and integrated graphics.
The new multi-touch mid-range Studio 17 laptop will no doubt be the start of many more advanced personal computers and will most definitely be leading the way to future technologies.
With the release date of this laptop set to be before the year it would be an excellent gift for a loved one or relative at Christmas.

Dell revealed a new printer, a handheld printer, that is not only portable but also good looking. The Wasabi PZ310 ultra-mobile printer is for ultra-mobile people who are very much into photography. It prints without wires using Bluetooth and is capable of holding up to 12 sheets of adhesive-backed paper. The best thing about this device? It never runs out of ink because there is no ink. Verbatim launches 500GB and 1TB quad interface desktop hard drives

Verbatim has announced two new Quad Interface desktop hard drives with capacities of 500GB and 1TB. The pro audio/video-grade storage and backup solutions offer Mac and PC users universal connectivity with plug and play support for all four of the leading interfaces: USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and eSATA II (external Serial ATA II). All the 3.5” drives feature a 7200rpm spindle speed and 32MB of cache memory to optimize performance in addition to a silent cooling fan.

Korean manufacturer Jooyon has recently rolled out the Q66SD desktop PC. The computer features an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 with G31 chipset, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 32GB SSD or a 320GB HDD, and a NVidia GeForce 9500GT video card. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing at this time.

Fujitsu is back with two new series of hard drives, boasting superfast rotational speeds, and standard support for 6Gb/s SAS. The two new series in Fujitsu’s line of 2.5″ enterprise hard drives are the 10,025-rpm MBD2 RC series and 15,000-rpm MBE2 RC series, improving performance by 60% in terms of internal transfer speeds. Both of them sports perpendicular magnetic recording, which enables increased recording density. According to Fujitsu, the new models are well-suited to a range of applications, from servers to high-capacity storage systems.

LG Electronics Japan today came out with a stylish 24-inch widescreen LCD monitor. Basically, the W2442PA-BF is a full HD monitor offering 1920 × 1080 pixels resolution. Specification-wise its pretty good. It offers 16:9 aspect ratio, 2ms response speed, 1000:1 contrast ratio, proprietary video engine, “F-Engine” technology, 300cd/m2 brightness, and 160/17 degrees viewing angle. No word on pricing.

The Core i7 processor is the first member of a new family of Nehalem processor designs and is the most sophisticated ever built, with new technologies that boost performance on demand and maximize data throughput. According to Intel, the Core i7 processor speeds video editing, immersive games and other popular Internet and computer activities by up to 40 percent without increasing power consumption. In the most superlative terms, the Core i7 is the “fastest desktop processor on Earth for the most demanding users on Earth.” In all there are three processors under the Core i7 series — the $999 Core i7-965 Extreme Edition (3.2GHz), $562 Core i7- 940 (2.93GHz), and $284 Core i7- 920 (2.66GHz). All of them provides 8MB cache, and support for DDR3-1066 memory.
